I went to the drag strip when the forecast said it was going to rain, it was a ghost town so I basically had the track all to myself. I made 6 consecutive passes, I didn't even have to stop in the staging lanes, it was just hot laps. After the 3rd pass I noticed a whine, almost like a straight cut gear box. The whine got a little worse after the next 3 passes, I thought it was the transmission, and I was ok with blowing it up because it was grinding in almost all the gears anyway unless I rev-matched. Come to find out after swapping to a known good transmission I had it was the differential that was whining. It was about twice as loud as the night it started whining by the time I swapped it out, it had about 203k miles on it so age+ mileage+ 6 back to back drag passes= blown diff. (I had changed the fluid at 130k and 190k)
